“Mooselane Design came about from my need to be creative. This might sound obvious, but I had been on maternity leave for almost a year and all the colourful children’s books worked as an inspiration for me. One evening, whilst visiting my family (on mooselane…), I sat down at the kitchen table and started drawing. Although I have done courses in graphic design and textile design, I did my degree in Product Design at the Glasgow School of Art. After graduating I felt the need for a break and went for more branding related work, until I felt that craving for creativity coming back and I started drawing again. I soon decided to set up Mooselane Design with the motto “we create fun, playful designs and patterns on otherwise ordinary homeware products.” (via Marika Ukonaho of Mooselane Design | Design Juices)

‘I have just started my career as a surface pattern designer having completed the Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design by Rachael Taylor (which I highly recommend to anyone wanting to start a career in surface pattern design!). My main inspiration is botanical drawing, the hand drawn element is most important in my work. I particularly love to draw birds and flowers, and my work begins as detailed pen drawings, which I then scan into Photoshop to add colour and create patterns.’ (via Surface Pattern & Textiles Designer Kayleigh Walls | Design Juices)
