Occasionally, one of those designs comes along that grabs you by the cheeks, pulls you in close and screams “LOOK AT ME! NO SERIOUSLY… LOOOK… AAAATTT… MEEEE!!!”, and this one from MEKANIK CLOTHING (MKNK) is one of those designs. But it’s not the amount of detail in their designs that has this effect, in fact, it might just be the exact opposite. The quality of the print is quite simply… well, where I come from, it’s like being handed a brand new fifty-pound-note… you just want to savour that moment of pure crispness, run your fingers over it, feeling every anti-counterfeit measure and pre-dog-eared edge.
I think what I’m trying to say is that the quality of the print is superb. The eco-friendly water-based inks used are solid and consistent across the print, with no noticeable difference in quality between the the primary black element and the coloured elements used to accent some designs.
MKNK have taken time in tracking down the best print shop they can to produce some seriously sharp and hard edges and a beautifully smooth consistent print.
The ‘BOLT DISMAY‘ design I am basing this review on has three colours which have transferred to the shirt pretty much faultlessly. There are no noticeable gaps in the separations and the design probably looks as good as it did in on the computer screen. (via Brand Review: MEKANIK CLOTHING (MKNK) | Indie Minded)

ISTD (John Lennon) - For the ISTD 2012 I was required to create an emotion provoking publication based on a day of impact in history. I chose to envisage 8 December 1980, the day Beatles legend John Lennon was assassinated by crazed fanatic Mark David Chapman. The format of the typographic exploration in terms of both colour, font and shape is reflective of the old Parlophone vinyl records which remain a prominent visual association with The Beatles. The spreads are contained within the ‘sleeves’ of the vinyl’s, which allows them to be pulled out and opened up to reveal their full format. This element of reveal conveys the sense of the intricate evil thoughts hidden away in Chapman’s mind. (via Graphic Design by Ruth Hill)
